How to Safely Extend or Add More Space to C Drive on Windows PC

Running out of space on the C drive can slow down your computer and cause annoying system warnings. Luckily, with disk management tools like Dr.Partition, you can easily extend the size of C partition without formatting or reinstalling Windows. Dr.Partition provides a safe and user-friendly way to reallocate unused space from other partitions and add it to your system drive.

How to Add More Space to C Drive on Windows PC

It is super easy to extend C drive with Dr.Partition software. Please follow the steps in below to add more space to C drive.

Step 1: Download and Launch Dr.Partition

Download and install Dr.Partition on your Windows PC. Launch the program and wait for it to detect all connected disks and partitions.

 

 

Step 2: Backup the D Drive

To increase the size of system C drive, Dr.Partition needs to get more space from the adjacent D drive. Please backup all important data from D drive as it is be deleted.

Step 3: Delete D Drive to Make Room for C Drive

Right click on the D drive and choose the “Delete” menu. The deleted space will be marked as unallocated, and this can be used to extend the size of C drive.

Step 4: Increase the Size of C Drive

In the main interface, locate and select the C drive. With the C drive selected, right click on it and choose the “Resize” option from the pop-up menu. As you can see, the original C drive is 100 GB.

A window will pop up and the part at the right side is for unallocated space you can add to C drive.

Now, move the progress bar to the right size to the right side to extend the C drive. In our case, we add all unallocated space to C drive. When it is done, click the “Resize” button to proceed

Next, click the Yes to confirm the resizing option.

You will see the following message when it is done successfully.

Click “OK” and the partition list will be updated automatically. You can see the C drive is extended from 100 GB to 465 GB.
